Article: UN Chief Urges Liberia to Start Disarmament Soon

U.N. Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali called on Liberia to approve the disarmament and demobilization plan immediately, according to his report available here today.

The report dated April 1 said that the commencement of disarmament and demobilization could no longer be delayed.

"The situation in Liberia is rapidly deteriorating and I fear that, unless the peace process is put back on track in the very near future, the consequences could be disastrous," he said.
