Article: Chinese Draft Law On National Defense Submitted

China is to draft a law to add impetus to the development of its national defense, and reassure the world of its pursuit of peace and determination to maintain territorial integrity.

The draft law on national defense was submitted today for consideration this morning in Beijing to the current session of the Standing Committee of the Eighth National People's Congress (NPC), China's legislature.

Chi Haotian, minister of national defense and vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), was authorized by the State Council and the CMC to explain the draft law to the country's legislators.
