Article: French Doctor Protests Sale of Human Cord Cell

A leading French doctor in transplantation of marrow and umbilical cord cells has protested the issuing of a certificate for a U.S. company the Biocyte to sell human umbilical cord cells in Europe.

The British magazine Nature published today the letter of protest entitled "Certificates against Transplantations," written by Professor Eliane Gluckman of Saint-Louis Hospital in Paris.

Gluckman said that such certificates violate the ethic and principle of non-commercialization of human body and free and anonymous organ donations, as have been recognized by the International Association of Transplantations.
