Article: Chinese Expert on Universal Realization of Human Rights

Chinese human rights expert Fan Guoxiang stressed at an human rights forum here on Wednesday that universal realization of human rights would not be accomplished without taking into account the historical, cultural and religious particularities of different nations and regions.

He pointed out that the ideas and contents of human rights and their materialization have been developing in a long process of human history.

"They are deeply rooted in and cannot be dissociated from the social conditions and specific backgrounds of different eras," said Fan at the annual meeting of the UN Subcommission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities, which opened here on Monday.
