Top favorite Dream Team of the United States scored a hard earned victory of 96-68 over South American squad Argentina in their opening match of the basketball competition at the Centennial Olympic Games here Saturday.

The match was so intense that the Dream Team played with all their skills to come from 2-4, 10-13, 12-15 down and take a 46-44 narrow lead at the halftime. The American team in the previous two Olympics had never trailed against their opponents.

In today's other actions, Lthuania beat Croatia 83-81 after a double overtime of play.
