A TV documentary entitled "Hong Kong's Vicissitude", inscribed by
President Jiang Zemin, will be broadcast at prime time by China
Central Television (CCTV) beginning tonight.
As a key program to mark the one-year countdown of Hong Kong's
return to the motherland, the 12-episode documentary reviews major
historical events in Hong Kong from over the past 150 years, from the
Opium War (1840) to the 1990s.
The Chinese people's struggle for Hong Kong's development, and
their efforts to maintain its prosperity and stability are also
displayed in the two-part documentary.
