Article: Tanzania to Form Maritime Safety Authority

The government of Tanzania plans to form a maritime safety authority in the next financial year, whose jurisdiction will extend to Zanzibar.

Speaking after receiving a 10-man committee report on maritime safety here today, the Minister For Communication and Transport, William Kusila said the government will work on the recommendations of the committee.

"Your proposals will help in strengthening maritime safety in Tanzania and avoid a recurrence of the MV Bukoba disaster," the minister told the task force.
