The cold snap which descended last week on France and other European countries claimed its seventh victim Saturday night, as the temperature dropped to its lowest in 30 years in the northeastern part of the country.

Charles Ziegler, a homeless man of 65 years old, died Saturday night of hypothermia in a church house in Sarre-Union, Bas-Rhin in eastern France, reported the Agence France-Presse (AFP).
