Article: Cyprus Reiterated Stands on Accession to EU

The Cyprus government today reiterated its position on accession to the European Union (EU) by rejecting the view that Cyprus will not be able to join the EU without prior solution of the protracted Cyprus problem.

The position was stated by Government Spokesman Yiannakis Cassoulides, who stressed that Cyprus is not prepared to sacrifice the interests of its people for the island's accession prospects.
