Article: China to Straight out Health Food Market

Health authorities are almost set to drive thousands of health foods from the country's shop shelves in a move to bring the industry under good control.

This will probably bring the number of health foods available in the market down to as few as 30, compared to the 3,000 currently available.

Even the figure of 3,000 registered health foods is low, compared to the 20,000 which experts say are on sale, mostly unregistered products. The China Consumers Journal quoted an official from the Ministry of Public Health (MPH) as saying that people will probably only have 30 kinds of health food to choose from next year.
