Article: Average Population Age Rises in China

The average age for residents in China's 1.2 billion population has now risen to just over 33, up from 28, as reported in 1990, according to the latest statistics from the State Statistical Bureau.

The data show that in the 1991-1995 period, the annual growth rate of birth in China averaged only 11.6 per thousand, compared with 15.54 per thousand in the 1986-1990 period.
