Nigeria, one of the world's leading cocoa producers and exporters, has witnessed a diminishing share in the international market because of the poor quality of its cocoa.

According to the Cocoa Association of Nigeria (CAN), the country's cocoa export to Europe in 1994 had a high moisture content and poor quality preparation, making it unacceptable.
