Article: China to Issue New Standards of Health Food

China is to issue new state standards for the production, marketing and administration of health food from May 1, aiming to guide the fast-growing industry in a sound direction.

The standards define the concept of health food, product classification, general principles, technical requirements and requirements on tags, said a report in today's "China Daily".

The standards were drafted last year by the National Technical Committee of Standardization for the Health Food Industry and were approved by the State Bureau of Technical Supervision last month.
