Thai Cabinet OKs Budget for Fiscal Year 1998

The Thai cabinet has endorsed a preliminary fiscal budget of 1,008.08 billion baht (40.32 billion U.S. dollars) for the fiscal year 1998, an increase of 83.08 billion baht (3.33 billion dollars) from the previous fiscal year.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications will receive a budget of 102.34 billion baht (4.09 billion dollars), or an increase of 21.46 percent from the fiscal year 1997, the highest increase margin among the ministries, according to the Thai Government House today.

The Education Ministry will receive a budget of 171.15 billion baht (6.8 billion dollars), up 13.18 percent from the previous fiscal year, ranking second. The defense budget is set at 107.22 ...
