Election Day is months away. But federal workers might spend a few
minutes reviewing the Hatch Act now.
That sounds like silly advice. The law has been around since 1939
and was amended in 1993. You're hard-pressed to find a federal
employee who doesn't know that the Hatch Act restricts the employee's
political activities and seeks to keep politics out of the federal
workplace.
Still, it seems that every election cycle, somewhere, somehow, a
government worker runs afoul of the law.
