Article: Rescue Operation Ends in East Iran

The rescue operation has come to an end in the quake-stricken east Iran except in four villages, the state-run Tehran Radio reported today.

The operation to unearth the victims is continuing in the four villages.

However, the radio and official news agency IRNA did not give the latest death toll in the morning news program. The state television reported 4,000 deaths Monday night. An official from the Qaen Governor's office told Xinhua in a telephone interview that they have buried 1,500 victims so far.
