Zimbabwe's largest textile company today warned the industry's
futute is under serious threat from smuggled goods.
Chairman of David Whitehead Textiles Ltd Chris Parvin said unless
regional governments tightened border controls, the domestic market
share of textile and clothing companies would continue to be eroded
by cheap imports, particularly from the Far East.
''The regional market, including South Africa, is plagued with
the
same problems facing Zimbabwean textile manufacturers, particularly
smuggled and under-invoiced goods,'' Parvin said in a statement
