Water Level No Threat After Damming of Yangtze: Expert

The locking of the Yangtze mainstream in November 8 will not result in a surge in its water level, said a Chinese water conservation expert here today.

"The water level may rise only four meters even in floods that statistically occurs once every 20 years, and will remain so until the end of the century when the first installed generating unit produces electric power," said the expert with the China Yangtze River Three Gorges Project Development Corporation.
