Jiang Enzhu, director of Xinhua News Agency's Hong Kong Branch,
expressed his best wishes to Hong Kong residents on the occasion of
the National Day, in a written message circulated here this morning.
Jiang said in the message that not long ago, descendants of the
Chinese nation throughout the world celebrated the event of the
century the return of Hong Kong to its motherland.
"The smooth transition of Hong Kong, the smooth transfer of power
and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
(SAR) of the People's Republic of China, marks the beginning of a
new
era in Hong Kong's history," he said.
