Article: Men Urged to Help Combat Female Circumcision in

Men have a crucial role to play in fighting female genital mutilation, delegates have appealed at a seminar held in the north Tanzanian town of Arusha.

Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner Joseph Mbwiliza made the appeal on Tuesday for concerted efforts to curb female genital mutilation, which is rampant in some parts of the region.

"It is a crime against women, and people should feel responsible to fight the bad culture among the local community," he said, adding that men should spearhead the war.
