Article: Estrada Turns Down New Mindanao Autonomous Region

Philippine President Joseph Estrada Saturday refused a proposal of creating a new autonomous region in Mindanao, the southern Philippines, for the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Speaking on his weekly radio-TV program, Estrada said the government is already pouring much money into the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) headed by Governor Nur Misuari of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF).
