Article: NEW ZEALAND, AUSTRALIAN ADVENTURERS REACH SOUTH POLE

Three adventurers from New Zealand and Australia finally reached the South Pole Tuesday afternoon after a trek of 84 days and nearly 1,500 kilometers, the Television New Zealand (TVNZ) reported.

It has been one of the toughest treks in history through one of the world's most hostile environments. Along the way, New Zealander Peter Hillary and Australians Jon Muir and Eric Philips have conquered bad weather, illness and frostbite.
