Article: UK Suppliers Launch New Body to Regulate Chinese Medicine

The demand for effective regulation of Chinese medicine and herbs in the UK has taken a significant step forward Wednesday with the launch of a new self-regulatory body by Britain's major Chinese medicine suppliers.

The Chinese Medicine Association of Suppliers (CMAS), the first of its kind across Europe, aims to oversee the supply of Chinese medicine to practitioners and retailers in the UK.

"Traditional Chinese medicine and herbal remedies are increasingly popular in the West, but they do need to be properly regulated. The Association is committed to achieving this," said CMAS chairman Henry Lee, who is also the head of Chinese Medicine Developments at Britain's Middlesex University. ...
