The Sri Lankan police are taking all precautions to prevent election-related violence and violations at the upcoming Southern provincial council election due on June 10, police sources said Monday.

With election incidents relatively low, there was every hope that this election will be free from the kind of violence by hundreds seen in North Western province and to a much lesser degree in the second round of five provincial council election in April.
