China's first government- sponsored Arctic expedition team has completed the first stage of their research in the Chukchi Sea, Arctic Ocean over the past week.

The expedition ship has stopped 14 times in the Chukchi Sea for scientists to study the exchange of water flow between the Arctic and the Pacific Ocean, and the influence of sea ice on marine environment, said Qin Weijia, assistant to the chief scientist of the expedition.
