Article: Archaeological Remains Rescued in Hong Kong

Archaeologists from Hong Kong and China's mainland are working together on a large-scale rescue excavation at Ho Chung, Sai Kung, to salvage cultural remains which could date back 4,000 years.

The Ho Chung Archaeological Site is located at the eastern part of Hong Kong's "New Territories". The site would be destroyed by a proposed highway improvement project.

The rescue excavation is directed by the Antiquities and Monuments Office of Home Affairs Bureau of Hong Kong with the assistance from the Anthropology Department of Zhongshan University, the Guangxi Autonomous Regional Archaeological Team and the Hunan Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology from the mainland.
