Article: HK Plans Chinese Medicine Industry Development

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government here Tuesday made public a four-stage road map for the development of the Chinese medicine industry in the SAR in the next 10 years.

Francis Ho, director-general of industry of the SAR, briefed members of the media on the road map, with a gradual shift of the development focus from the public sector to private enterprises.

Ho said that in the first phase and by the year 2000, a regulatory regime for the Chinese medicine industry should have been established and Chinese medicine technologists from China's mainland are available and training courses on Chinese medicine production will be organized.
