Article: Turkey Vows to Protect Turkish Cypriots

Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem on Monday said that Turkey is determined to defend the rights and freedom of Turkish Cypriots.

Cem made the announcement at a press conference held in the northern part of the divided Nicosia, where he is on a visit to the Turkish-Cypriots controlled part of Cyprus, according to a press release issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

"Any provocation or aggression directed against you (Turkish-Cypriots) from the Aegean to the Mediterranean will be treated as directed towards us," Cem said.
