Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem on Monday said that Turkey is
determined to defend the rights and freedom of Turkish Cypriots.
Cem made the announcement at a press conference held in the
northern part of the divided Nicosia, where he is on a visit to the
Turkish-Cypriots controlled part of Cyprus, according to a press
release issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
"Any provocation or aggression directed against you
(Turkish-Cypriots) from the Aegean to the Mediterranean will be
treated as directed towards us," Cem said.
He stressed that the Greek military build-up and planned
deployment of Russian-made S-300 missiles pose a threat not only to
Turkish Cypriots but to Turkey itself as ...
