Fund-Raising Event Held at Hong Kong's New Airport

Some 35,000 people on Sunday took part in a fund-raising event at Hong Kong's new airport at Chek Lap Kok, which is scheduled to be put into operation on July 6.

The "New Airport Tour for Millions" jointly organized by the Community Chest of Hong Kong, the Airport Authority and the New Airport Projects Coordination Office, was one of the major community events to celebrate the opening of the new airport.

Anson Chan, administrative secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China, officiated the tour, in which the participants walked about six kilometers on the airport's southern runway and into the passenger terminal building with specially-designed Airport Passes. They were ...
