China and Guinea Bissau decided to resume diplomatic ties as of Thursday.

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and Fernando Delfim da Silva, Guinea Bissau's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, signed a joint communique on the resumption of diplomatic ties at the ambassadorial level in the Chinese capital.

China had suspended its diplomatic ties with Guinea Bissau from May 31, 1990. Tang and da Silva held talks on bilateral relations and other issues of common interest after the communique signing ceremony.
