Article: Zambian Government Urged to Quicken Copper Mines

The Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) Sunday urged the Zambian government to quicken privatization of the Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines (ZCCM), the Zambia News Agency (ZANA) said.

ZAM even called on the government to sell some mines at a give-away price to save the country's economy from collapse.

In an interview with ZANA in Lusaka, ZAM Chairman Mark O'Donnell said that in view of an apparent shortage of buyers for Nchanga and Nkana mines, the largest mines in Zambia, they should be sold at any price as long as the country could benefit from the long-term investment.
