Cypriot HIV Carrier Jailed for Unprotected Sex

A Cypriot man infected with the lethal Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) was sentenced Tuesday to one year imprisonment on charges of having unprotected sex and not informing his sexual partners about his condition.

Andreas Nicolaou, the 28-year-old waiter in southern coastal town of Larnaca, was found guilty of having sexual intercourse with two women in a way that could possibly infect them with the HIV, the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) virus, according to the verdict of Larnaca District Court.
