Article: U.S. Air Force Plans Small Satellite Operations

The United States Air Force researchers are working on tiny satellite operations to replace large ones for more reflexibility and less vulnerability, the Defense News said in its latest issue.

The Air Force and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have begun laying the technological groundwork for such missions starting early next century, the weekly said in its August 17-23 issue.

The Air Force early this year launched TechSat21, a two-phased effort that would culminate in a three-satellite flight experiment in 2003, it said.
