U.N. relief workers have begun to evacuate from Iraq following
the
withdrawal of U.N. weapons inspectors, a reliable U.N. source said
on
Wednesday.
The U.N. source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that the
first group of U.N. humanitarian staff had already left Baghdad.
However, the number is not immediately known.
All U.N. relief workers have been asked to leave Iraq on
Wednesday
following the evacuation of all U.N. arms inspectors from Iraq, said
the source.
This move came after chief U.N. arms inspector Richard Butler
presented a report saying Iraq was not cooperating fully with the
inspectors as promised one month ago.
