The European Union (EU) "continues to oppose Israeli settlement activity in the Occupied Territories as illegal and an obstacle to peace," according to an EU Settlement Watch Report on Middle East available here today.

The EU said the activity contravenes Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which states that "the Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies."
