Article: Lebanon Not to Attend Peace Conference on Wye Deal

Lebanon on Thursday rejected a United States invitation to attend a multinational peace conference in support of the Wye accord singed by the Palestinians and Israel.

"The U.S. invitation comes when there is no consensus among Arab countries for the Wye agreement and while Lebanon's south and the west Bekaa Valley and Syria's Golan Heights are still under Israel's occupation," Lebanese Information Minister Bassem Al-Sabaa told reporters after a regular cabinet session.

He said Lebanon would not attend such a meeting and not give any support for the deal. The U.S. administration is inviting countries concerned in the Middle East peace process to gather in Washington for a multinational peace ...
