The Hong Kong market is now stable and trading well thanks to a "surgical incursion" for 10 trading days in August, a senior official from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (KHSAR) of China said here Monday.

Donald Tsang, KHSAR financial secretary who is here attending the annual meeting of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF), told a press conference that the exceptional incursion was introduced to remove a "contrived, artificial and manufactured situation" which was causing major disruption and threatening to undermine the confidence of the people.
