So, we're still waiting on that public apology from the Columbia
Police Department.
Richard King is - for the ridiculous scenario that unfolded
during the Sept. 17 Summerfest finale, ultimately leading to The
Blue Note/Mojo's owner being held against a wall, handcuffed and
thrown in the clink. And the rest of us are, too - for having to
deal with a police force that once again shows how skewed and out-
of-whack its priorities and judgment can be.
It all came to a head in the midst of a fine effort by The Avett
Brothers on an otherwise-pleasant night on Ninth Street. King, who
has gone out of his way for years to work with the city and local
authorities to make outdoor concerts in downtown ...
