Article: Indonesian President Denies Possible Military Coup

Amid rising rumors about a possible military coup in Indonesia, president Abdurrahman Wahid insisted on Monday that the Indonesian Military (TNI) will not do that.

Speaking to reporters at Bina Graha Presidential Office, Wahid said he had never thought that such an action (a military coup) will take place.

"I never think that it will happen," the president was quoted by the national Antara News Agency as saying.

Rumors of a military coup have been rising in Indonesia due to the unstable security situation in the country.
