Article: Over 128 Chechen Rebels Surrender Sunday

The Russian ORT public television channel reported that 128 militants surrendered to pro- government militias Sunday in Chechnya.

The surrender occurred following an agreement between a group of rebel field commanders and Bislan Gantamirov, the former Grozny mayor who now fight on the side of the federal troops. Grozny is the capital of the breakaway republic.

This came after Saturday's surrender of 95 rebels across Chechnya, where federal troops are in the fourth month of their campaign to root out the militants.
