President of the 10th Session of the United Nations Conference on
Trade and Development (UNCTAD X) Supachai supported the "Green Room"
system of the World Trade Organization, but called for a more
transparent and democratic one.
When "encountering" non-governmental organizations at a sideline
meeting of the UNCTAD X, Supachai, who will replace the current
Director-General of WTO Michael Moore in two years, said the Green
Room, which allows big countries in decision-making process, is
practical.
The system, though represents not every country of the 135-
member bloc, will be quick in coming into a decision.
"If you go to the General Council, it may take a year to make a
decision," he said.
