Article: Another Radio Station Starts Broadcasting in Somalia

A new short wave radio station, Radio Benadir, started its broadcasting on Monday night in north Mogadishu.

A group of Somali businessmen have established the radio station aimed at promoting peace, reconciliation, spreading Islam and encouraging business activities nationwide.

According to Mohamed Mohamud Moallim, director of the new radio station, Radio Benadir will be broadcasting 13 programs every week.

The radio will be on the air for six hours every day, three hours in the afternoon and three hours in the evening, Moallim said.

But the programs will be extended as the time passes and add more emphasis to peace and reconciliation, he said.
