The possibility of Morocco withdrawing from the 2006 World Cup
bid race will be discussed when South Africa's Sports Minister
Ngconde Balfour met Moroccan World Cup bid officials in Rabat on
Sunday, officials said on Thursday
South Africa World Cup 2006 Bid Committee officials said Balfour
had been invited by the Moroccans, but there was no word for the
agenda.
Balfour was believed to seek to get Morocco to withdraw from the
race, leaving South Africa as the only African representative in the
bid to host the 2006 World Cup finals.
It is not the first time South African officials have attempted
