Article: Indonesia Needs National Reconciliation: President

Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid said that Indonesia now needs a national reconciliation and dialogue to revive spirit of nation unity and bridge differences of various cultures among people in a bid to boost the on-going reforms process and build a new Indonesia.

Addressing a seminar with the theme "Toward a New Indonesia Through National Reconciliation" here Monday, the president said: "What the nation needs is another reconciliation and dialogue on how to unite the country's various cultures into one."

Meanwhile, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Tyasno Sudarto said that the Indonesian Army will back the idea of national reconciliation to accelerate the national reform process.
