Article: EC, ESA to Accelerate Satellite Navigation System

The European Commission and the European Space Agency (ESA) opened on Thursday a joint office to accelerate the development of the Galileo Satellite Navigation System.

The Brussels-based office will provide technical support to the executive body of Europe's space program and to the industrial and scientific teams working on the Galileo navigation system.

Loyola de Palacio, European Union commissioner for energy and transport, said that Galileo is one of the most important technological innovations in the 15-nation bloc for the years to come.
