Article: Egypt Supports Lebanon's Claim for Shebaa Farms

Egypt expressed its support to Lebanon's claim for the controversial Shebaa Farms in an Egyptian- Lebanese joint communique signed by Lebanese Prime Minister Salim Hoss and his Egyptian counterpart Atef Obeid here Friday.

The two countries stressed in the communique that Israel "must implement a full withdrawal in line with U.N. resolution 425, including Shebaa Farms."

The highly fertile Shebaa Farms, seized by Israel from Lebanon in the 1967 Middle East war, are located on the Lebanese side of Mount Hermon, Syria's highest mountain, which is under Israeli occupation.

Israel argues that the Shebaa Farms belong to Syria, and that a withdrawal from this area will be considered in peace talks ...
