Tehran on Thursday denied a report that Judiciary Chief Ayatollah
Hashemi Shahroudi would be elected as successor to supreme leader
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
"Such reports carried out by foreign media is a mere lie against
the Islamic Republic of Iran," said Ayatollah Ebrahim Amini, vice
chairman of the Experts Assembly which is responsible for electing
the country's supreme leader.
