Article: Local People, Not British Discovered Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe

The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Management of Zimbabwe announced that it will erect a post detailing the correct history of the Victoria Falls in order to clear the misconception that a British discovered them, the Zimbabwe News Agency reported on Monday.

National Park Warden of the Zambezi and Victoria Falls Steven Zvinogoza told the news agency it was the local Tonga people and not David Livingstone who discovered the Victoria Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world.

A post at the statue of David Livingstone indicates that he was the one who discovered the falls in 1855.
