A powerful earthquake measuring 7. 1 on the Richter scale jolted
the Chugoku region in western Japan on Friday afternoon, the
Meteorological Agency said.
The quake is the biggest one in terms of magnitude since the 1995
Great Hanshin Earthquake, which registered 7.2, the agency said.
