Article: Paris Club Rejects Nigeria's Debt Rescheduling Plan

The world's main debt creditor the Paris Club has rejected Nigeria's request for rescheduling its heavy debt burden, the News Agency of Nigeria reported on Tuesday.

Nigerian Minister of State for Finance Jubril Martins-Kuye was quoted as saying that the government had so far not been able to reach any meaningful agreement with members of the Paris Club on debt rescheduling.

Speaking at the on-going Nigerian Economic Summit in the capital Abuja, Martins-Kuye said that Nigeria, as at June this year, was indebted to the tune of 18.48 billion U.S. dollars, or 73.41 percent of the total 28.44 billion dollars external debt profile, to the Paris Club.
